Dog Training Q&A What Would Jeff Do?

What Would Jeff Do? Dog Training Tip of the Day #136

You use a shock collar because your lazy!

that seems to be one of the things that the haters love to say, its actually the farthest thing from reality actually.
If you think that you can just push a button and your dog is going to sit/down/place/heel and come back to you it is NOT going to happen no matter how many times you push the button or how high or what words you say as well, if your dog is not trained it won't listen to anything....BUT training

it all boils down to training, you still need to put in the work in and teach the dog, do lots of repitition and lots of patience and you need a skill set, (which anyone can learn).

When you see a dog that is doing even basic and especially advanced obedience and has a remote collar on, the remote collar is not "making" the dog do anything, a TON of training and time have been put into the dog work you are seeing.

Now to stop an unwanted behavior like, Digging, counter surfing, getting into the trash, fence fighting, jumping on people, barking, getting into the cat box and a couple of other things, the remote collars are fantastic and no training is needed and that is just pushing a button to stop the behavior.

No matter what, you are going to have to put in the work and keep up with it, its a lifestyle.
